The mayor emphasized that the project has been developing for a long time; its purpose is to make different people participate.
“We are doing crucial work with the Sea Governance GEF Project in our commune of Cisnes. We have been developing this project for a long time and aiming toward people’s participation. Nowadays, we are present in the productive aquaculture industry with representatives from Consejo del Salmón and Chile Salmón to make this initiative public and visualize what opinions we may receive. Shortly, we’ll have a wider talk with the community to identify agreement points to get this initiative off the ground and allow us to generate a development tool in our commune of Cisnes”
Juan Luis Amenábar, Regional Director at Consejo del Salmón (Salmon Council) in the commune of Aysén, described the meeting as a rather beneficial encounter.
In La Junta, we held a rather beneficial meeting, along with the mayor and different participants who, in conjunction with GEF, were analyzing this sea and coastal governance project.
We, as Consejo del Salmón (Salmon Council), are open to contributing and enhancing everything related to sustainability, management, and community relationships. The pilot with the one we participated in today, is important to picture how the future is coming. We hope to move forward well, considering our next meeting will take place in January”.
Meanwhile, Manuela Erazo, National Coordinator of the Sea Coastal Governance GEF Project, appreciated the instance which made the vision and the challenges of one of the productive sectors of the territory public.
It was an instance that allowed us to coincide and be able to generate an ordinary view regarding the challenges from the sustainability point of view in this sector and how this will be incorporated into the upcoming communal working board of the sea coastal governance in Cisnes. We have already built local working boards in each of the sectors, which are part of this pilot as Melimoyu, Puerto Cisnes, Gala, Gaviota, Raúl Marín Balmaceda, La Junta, Puyuhuapi where the local boards of governance are created.
According to the governance model proposed by the project, seven local working boards have been created in the South Pilot; these are located in each of the places in Cisnes. By the end of January, they are meant to make up The Communal Committee with the participation of local representatives and other key members in the area who will have to interact with the Regional Commission on Coastal Uses as a way to strengthen the dialog and the participation of all institutional participants not only public but also private.
